Youth Employment Project

The Youth Employment Project provides Philadelphia out-of-school young adults ages 16 to 24 with transitional support services to find educational and career opportunities. The program assists participants with enhancing their skillset through academic support, career counseling and professional development workshops. Our mission is to help young adults successfully transition into employment, college, pre apprenticeship, and adulthood.  The program services are free and include:

  • Individualized career development and coaching
  • GED prep classes and career/educational exploration
  • Paid internship opportunities and pre-apprenticeship referrals
  • Job readiness and life skills training workshops
  • Transportation assistance and monetary incentives

Target Audience

Philadelphia youth & young adults (ages 16-24) looking for support in gaining a high school credential, interested in post-secondary education, certificate or advance training, and any other career-specific skills. Youth and young adults in this age group who are Out-of-School are eligible for the program. Out-of-school is defined as an applicant who is not enrolled and attending secondary or post-secondary education. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ages 16 to 24 

  • Philadelphia resident 

  • Out–of–school youth with or without a high school diploma or GED 

Populations are strongly encouraged to apply ** youth impacted by the justice system, youth in foster care or who have aged out of foster care, pregnant youth or parenting youth, youth with a disability, youth experiencing homelessness, or have run away from home.

Interested students should complete the YEP Interest Form which can be found here:

Upon completion of the Interest Form, a YEP employee will reach out to the applicant to discuss next steps.

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements to be enrolled. Upon initial screening applicants will be required to complete intake assessment, paperwork and provide documentation which includes:

  • State ID

  • Social Security Card

  • Birth Certificate

  • High School Diploma

  • GED or drop out letter (if applicable)
