Cierra Freeman serves as Dept Coordinator for Temple’s LWCCP RECAST Initiative. Her direct role is Community Organizing and Outreach

Cierra Freeman’s youth activism began more than 25 years ago, as a Jr. Servant Leader within Freedom schools through the Children’s Defense Fund. Prior to joining Temple Cierra worked for businesses, organizations, and schools that all had one thing in common: commitment to providing youth growth and opportunities. Within her role at Philadelphia School Partnership/Elevate 215, she was the creator/leader of the Philadelphia Parents Coalition, working on city and statewide initiatives to promote educational equity. Through the role of Sales Director for Varsity Tutors, she listened to the needs of families (and educational institutions) on the East Coast pre-K through College to provide the best tutoring recommendations. In her role at DeVry University, Cierra traveled across Philadelphia’s high school building relationships with Admin, faculty, and parents to present degree paths to students. Working at DMi Partners in their EduMarketing department helped Cierra hone her ability to steer people to their educational needs. Lastly, serving a brief stint as Career Coach via Henkel’s and McCoy’s WIOA contract allowed Cierra to teach students Math and English to raise their proficiency while also teaching education mapping, helping students to realize their personal pathway to education. Cierra is excited to use the skills she’s developed to continue to elevate the community involvement of supporting youth’s social, emotional, and behavioral health needs.

Cierra is a native of Philadelphia and a mother of 2. She graduated with a Diploma in Nonprofit Capacity Building from Eastern University’s Campolo College of Social Change. She is also currently a member of the Brewerytown Sharswood CCA, directly leading the Youth & Education Committee of the local Civic Association.
