Liudmila Mandzhieva is an experienced professional, an English as a Second Language Instructor. She graduated from the Kalmyk State University in 1991 having earned a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, an ESL Instructor.  In 1991, she successfully began her teaching ESL classes to different level students at public schools. The teacher implemented a series of activities-based learning programs, which resulted in increased student interest in regular lessons.

In 1993, having great results teaching ESL classes, Ms. Mandzhieva was invited to work as an ESL instructor at another public school, and was appointed to be the Deputy Director.  She contributed to students’ foreign language study, designed, and implemented a curriculum from scratch along with corresponding instructional materials, which resulted in successful term kick-start activities, conducted administrative support activities, consistently conducted special activities; performed other functions and duties related to teaching ESL classes; used the latest technology and teaching techniques.

From 1993 to1994, the instructor participated in the different projects working on the textbooks, e.g., “Happy English” was one of them. In 1996, Ms. Mandzhieva won the rank “The Hope of the Year” at the contest “The Teacher of the Year”, and she was invited to work as an ESL instructor at the college.

In 1998, she successfully transferred to teach in the college and was appointed the Chair of the Foreign Language Faculty”. She developed and led different programs, curricula in area of expertise, upheld appropriate academic standards, oversaw the planning of the projects, monitored, and evaluated teaching; held assessments, communicated assessments results to the college office to be incorporated into students’ files; provided a student-focused, student-driven tutoring environment, created lesson plans that aligned to student needs.

From 2000 to 2004 Ms. Mandzhieva successfully participated in TEACHERS TRAINING TEACHERS PROGRAM -3TP, and in the International Contest Funded by U.S. Department of State, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, administered by American Councils for International Education; ACTR/ACCELS. She was awarded with Three Computers Pentium-4, Five Certificates for Excellence in Teaching, Five Certificates of Achievement in Recognition of Excellence and Leadership in teaching English presented and funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, administered by American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS.

From 2001 to 2004 Ms. Mandzhieva became a Project Team Member at the British Council. She successfully promoted a wider knowledge of the United Kingdom and the English Language encouraging cultural, educational, technological cooperation. Ms. Mandzhieva developed educational projects, created different assessments, tests, connecting with schools; had the great opportunity to meet Barbara Hay, the Director of the British Councils, successfully accomplished different projects.   

Ms. Mandzhieva earned MASTER Teacher Certificate from the British Council. From 2004 to 2006, Ms. Mandzhieva became a member of International Reading Association -IRA, International Literacy Association Newark, DE, the USA. She contacted with members of IRA/ILA, voted for the Vice president of the IRA/ILA and the Members of the Board; shared her experience with colleagues having excellent interpersonal skills.

There are some of her most current accomplishments:

 Ms. Mandzhieva is Certified as a Facilitator- Certificate of Completion “The 8-Hour Community Mental Health Awareness Session (Co-MHAS) Facilitator’s Training”, Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, the USA.

She successfully completed BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTERPRETERS IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTERPRETERS IN CLINICAL SETTINGS AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTERPRETING CURRICULUM TRAINING OF TRAINERS, THE SPECIAL COURSE - Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.

Ms. Mandzhieva is awarded with Certificate “Leading Ourselves & School Communities Through and After Crisis Towards Healing”, CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) Matters!"  Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Department of Health & Human Services, government program.

She is enthusiastic and proud to joining the Teaching Team at Temple University.
