Johnny E. Zimmerman serves as a Literacy Instructor II with the WELL Program. Born in Durham, North Carolina, his my mother relocated to Philadelphia when he was six months old—so Philadelphia has always been home.
Johnny proudly served in the United States Army, completing a decade of service that included time stationed in Germany. He is a graduate of the School District of Philadelphia, having attended and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, right down the street from Temple University.
Johnny earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. After graduation, he returned to Philadelphia and continued serving his community in the medical field, working as an office manager before transitioning into education.
He spent three years teaching in both Philadelphia public and charter schools before joining Temple University. Johnny is excited for what the future holds as he continues teaching Math and Science in the WELL Program and supporting adult learners on their academic journeys.
